Decided to write this guide to help out other members who may be facing the same issues.

Sounds dumb but it helped out a lot with the install of the SQL we are going to let the installer do.

This will start the install of AppFabric and a bunch of other required services.

If you cannot get it to go past AppFabric then reboot your system and let it try again.

You will be asked to restart the machine several times during this process.

Do it and then log back into the same local admin account and the setup will resume automatically.

Once it finishes installing pre-requisites go ahead and do a final reboot one last time.

If they are disabled then enable them, set them to automatic, and start them.

If you get a 1067 error change the credentials to the local admin account to run it.

Run it as admin. Let it configure and install the remaining items.

Here is where it will cause frustration.

If it doesnt fail then you are good and can update to the latest CU.

This time it will complete with no errors and allow you to log into the admin center.

If you are on R2 this may not be an issue at all as R2 is a lot more supported and has a lot more hotfixes installed.

Unbelievably complex process, but very satisfying once you get going.

It is indicating that it doesnt see dot net 4.5, even though that is installed automatically with Serer 2012 r2.
